Walking on the edge of a river-33

New home

When I heard
Our ancestral home of tiles
Had a rebirth
I went there hiding
A pack of old memory jasmines
From the layers of the smell of new colors
What I saw was the ancient home
The mound of mud where I played with mud-toys
Lying down flat on earth with smooth lips of polished tiles
Kissing my under parts of feet
From the ro0m that resounded with violin tunes
Of mu Aunt
Turned and turned steps to the top
The grainer place, a hidden corner
Turned into a big window
Peeping into the blue sky
The hanging on which milk and curd used to be hidden
Reappeared as a low roof case
As if to carry patience equal to the mother earth
The jar of pickle that my mother saved carefully
All these years
Lost its path
Caught in the feet of new kitchen racks
Looking scared
The cattle shed
That always appeared at the premises
Started guarding as great iron gate
The grinding stone of my grand mother
That powdered the medicines
As a veena with broken string at the base of neem tree
Crying a loud with fear
With new comforts and decorations
This house too looks good
But a thorn of some unknown deficit from somewhere
Amid the frames of the ancient home
Its difficult to recignise the new home
But this also is a tree germinated from
The same land
How can I stay without fumbling the mother root
Unless I bind myself to the roots of this soil
How can I recognize this new home
So easily
